The Pre-Kindergarten Program at Texoma Christian School was developed to provide students in our Pre-Kindergarten 3 (K3), Pre-Kindergarten 4 (K4) and Junior Kindergarten (JK) classes with a Christ-centered experience that is stimulating, enriching, and nurturing in a secure and loving environment. TCS believes children are a blessing from the Lord (Psalms 127:5) and consider this a partnership with parents to help train them up in the way they should go (Proverbs 22:6).
We have created a program that offers a variety of enriching and interactive age appropriate experiences and activities that unfold throughout the year as the child grows, develops and becomes prepared for his or her formal school years. Daily activities center on units of study that have been created to teach Early Ed students about God’s world, who God is and His love for them and for each other. We recognize the unique characteristics of three and four year old’s and capitalize on their desire to learn about themselves and the world around them.
Children must be three years old for K3 by September 1st. All children must be potty trained. In K3, your child will receive a Christ-centered experience that is stimulating and enriching, nurtured in a secure and loving environment. Music and Library are included. Our program focuses on helping the children develop an excitement for learning by providing age appropriate, hands-on activities that introduce them to recognizing letters and numbers, developing fine and gross motor skills, working to become more independent, improving social skills and most importantly understanding how God loves them.
Children must be four years old for K4 by September 1st. All children must be potty trained. In this program, your child will receive a Christ-centered experience that is stimulating and enriching, nurtured in a secure and loving environment. Music and Library are included. Our K4 program concentrates on reinforcing and enriching the skills learned the previous year. We focus on improving necessary skills to prepare them for Kindergarten such as increasing their attention span, social skills and the ability to begin solving problems. It is during this time that the children begin to understand that God made them special, which is taught through the scripture memorization of Psalm 139.
Junior Kindergarten (JK): Young students are naturally curious and thrive in an engaging learning environment that fosters their innate sense of wonder. In light of this truth, our Junior Kindergarten provides rich, hands-on learning experiences for young students to actively investigate and discover God’s world. Our goal is to meet the developmental needs of these students by focusing on the whole child. We provide daily opportunities for students to grow intellectually, spiritually, socially, emotionally, and physically. Our Junior Kindergarten class will provide a bridge between preschool and kindergarten for children who may need a little more time to develop a strong beginning foundation. Our Junior Kindergarten program ensures every student has the skills and confidence they need to achieve their full potential in kindergarten.
7:30-8:10AM: Morning Care is an option for parents who have an early start to their workday. This time frame consists of structured play that prepares students for entry into their day of learning.
3:15-5:30PM: Students are with the Prime Time teacher and they enjoy participating in “after school” activities. After school activities include time on the playground, games with friends and imaginative play. This time offers students more independence in choosing their activities and less teacher directed.
Each class will have 14-16 students, a full time teacher and a teacher’s aid. We offer a variety of age-appropriate lessons throughout our day, including hands-on activities based on traditional instructor-created curriculum supplemented with external resources. Our early education program revolves around themed units including seasons, holidays, God’s world of exciting animals, children around the world, who God is and His love and plan for us. We emphasize letters, their sounds and introduce reading concepts. In addition, we teach number recognition, beginning math and begin studying the world around us through physical science, artwork, exploration, experiences, and experiments. Each class learns a monthly memory verse and participates in a Bible time including praying, singing and a Bible story. We offer healthy snacks and a recess time to encourage physical growth and development.
